Every brand uses different codes for the same handful of underlying problems: drainage, door locks, water supply, and load balance. Here's the cross-brand cheat sheet.
Underneath the different letters and numbers, almost every washer error code falls into one of four categories: drain/water flow, door or lid lock, water supply, or unbalanced load. Once you know which category your code falls into, you know roughly what we'll be checking first.
Samsung 5C/ND, LG OE, GE E2/E23, Bosch E18/E24, Frigidaire E20/E21, Whirlpool LD. All of these mean the machine isn't draining fast enough, usually a clogged filter, kinked hose, or failed drain pump, roughly in that order of likelihood.
Samsung DC, LG dE/dE1/dE2, Whirlpool F5E2/F5E3, Bosch E09, GE LE. These point to the door or lid lock mechanism failing to engage or release properly. Usually a straightforward assembly replacement.
GE H2O, LG IE, Samsung 4C, Frigidaire IE. The machine isn't detecting enough incoming water, check the supply valve is fully open first, then the inlet valve and screen.
Samsung/LG/GE/Whirlpool all use variations of UE or UL. Often genuinely a load issue, redistribute and retry. If it happens on every cycle with a normal load, worn suspension springs or shocks are the likely cause.
If you've checked the obvious (load balance, water valve, visible clogs) and the code persists, further troubleshooting usually requires opening the machine, which is where a misdiagnosis gets expensive. That's the point to call someone who can read your specific model's service manual, not just the general code meaning.
Still stuck? If you've walked through the checks above and the issue isn't clear, or you'd rather not open the machine yourself, we diagnose and quote upfront before any repair starts. Same-day appointments are usually available across Fort Collins.
